EDDIE
SHACK

After seventeen rollicking seasons in the National Hockey League, Ed Shack can look back at a distinguished career. While it's not the word many of the sages of hockey would use to describe "Fast Eddie's" time in the NHL, it fits nevertheless.

To survive that long in the world's best league requires many skills. No one will ever label Shack's play as fluid or graceful, but he got the job done, and he did it with a flair and vigor that was as distinct as it was unique.

There are few in the game that can match his accomplishments as a player. He appeared in over 1,000 regular season games and 74 post season contests. Proof of his consistency is that he can claim scoring the benchmark 20 or more goals in a season with five different clubs. This also included 7 "Hat Trick" games. He was a member of four Stanely Cup winners with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Ed played for six teams starting with the New York Rangers, then Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and back to Toronto, where he retired from the NHL in 1975.

Today, through his public appearances for fund raising activities, speaking dates and commercials, he remains one of the most recognized faces and voices across Canada.

Ed is a Director of the NHL Oldtimers' Association, a non-profit organization formed by former players that assists retired players and their families in need. He also referees at Oldtimers' Hockey Challenge games.

Ed recently became a spokesman for the Prostate Cancer Foundation as they attemp to create more awareness of the disease and the importance of tests for early detection.

End of the Roll Carpet, a national company, has retained Ed to promote their products through commercials and print advertisements.

Beyond the title of "The Entertainer", is a man who has brought enjoyment in one form or another to millions, both on and off the ice.
